How I learned the most important teaching skills on my first day and how they still guide me five years later.
One day before I started teaching, my sensei told me to just observe a class. That day was a turning point for my life.

Because that same day, I picked up teaching skills that still serve me today.
​​​
Incidentally, my first batch was going to be a kids batch.
​​​
"Wow, the students are persistent and i would have been annoyed at this question" Is what I thought as I listened to my teacher conduct the class...
​​​
But she(my teacher) didn't get annoyed...
​​
She answered the persistent barrage of questions, gave space for students to talk, confirmed with them and had extreme patience throughout the class.
​​​
I was in awe and that day something changed in me.
​​​
It's as if those skills were transferred in me, just through observation alone and they never left me.
​​
I could immediately apply them on the next class. Patience, empathy, thinking about what could be going on the student's mind, I was using and refining these skills with every class after that.(I still do!)

The result?
Excellent response from the students, They quickly liked me and i could form a connection with these kids.

Later I was assigned an adult-kid mixed batch, but the skills i had learned were so fundamental that I crushed that class as well.
​
People who had professional experience of 20+ years liked my style and wanted to learn from me! (One dad even got his son to enroll)

Ever since then, I kept learning psychology, more learning methods, found out scientific techniques like SRS, better learning tools and kept trying to become a better teacher.
​​
After 5 years, I have an even more understanding of what's going in a student's mind.
I can communicate even more effectively, understand the subtle doubts properly, and most importantly I Love It!
Teaching gives a fulfillment like nothing else, and i am very thankful my sensei helped me get started on this journey.
I have taught countless students and i am very happy to say i formed connections with a lot of them.
I will continue to improve my methods and very excited to what the world has to offer me!
